The Arkansas Foodbank Network serves as a broker between private businesses and nonprofit feeding agencies without reliance on government intervention. Also featured is "We Care," a community group in Wrightsville that provides unique services for people in need.
The Buffalo River is a priceless state treasure that must constantly be protected from the pressures of modern growth. The Ozark Society and Pindall Citizens Against Landfill are two citizen groups that were formed and have fought successfully to preserve the natural beauty of the river.

The Boys, Girls, and Adults Community Development Center in Marvell, Advocates for Children and Families, and the Parent Center in Little Rock are helping to make life better for coming generations.

The Ozark Organic Growers Association, the Home Grown Marketing Project, Meadowcreek, Hendrix College, and the Small Farm Coalition are part of a growing network of organizations working to revolutionize farming in the state.

Poverty has many faces and many causes. People who are experiencing poverty talk about their lives. Those who provide services to the poor are presented and dispel many popular myths about welfare.
Arkansas is perceived as a water-rich state. But, in some areas the water supply is so depleted that alternative sources will have to be found or agricultural operations will be forced to scale down. Other areas have water too contaminated to sustain life. Mistakes are explored, as well as opportunities to be considered in planning for a better and more equitably distributed water supply.
VHS, 60 min., 1982 One of the most intriguing, controversial documentaries ever filmed about prison life. Exclusive footage of interviews inside the cells of five prisoners doing life in a Texas prison are presented. The inmates describe their incarceration and rehabilitation, recount the incidentals of their crimes, and plead for parole. Interviews with remaining family members of their victims contrast the inmates' testimonies with their personal pain at the loss of their kin.
VHS, 58 min., 1990 Panel discussion featuring Wilbur Hawkins of the Delta Commission, and political and community leaders from the Delta. Call-in questions concerning the state of the Delta region are addressed. Problems and possible solutions are discussed. Steve Barnes, local journalist, hosts the program.
Health Care: The Crisis in Arkansas VHS, 60 min. 1987 Access to health care is decreasing in rural areas, and accelerating costs are putting adequate health care out of the reach of many. Issues contributing to the health care crisis are explored.

Talk To Me: Americans in Conversation VHS, 60 min., 1996 Conversations with various notables and with four very different communities around the country share their experiences and reflect on what it means to be an American today.
Toward a More Perfect Union: An Invitation to Conversation VHS, 23 min., 1996 This video, based on the material from Talk To Me: Americans in Conversation, is divided into four short segments designed to stimulate conversation.
VHS, 25 min., 1984 Based on writings of troubled youths in Fayetteville, this video dramatizes consequences of parental abuse and neglect. The anguish and the anger bring home the uncomfortable reality of abuse among family members.
slides/tape/script, 20 min., 1983 Photographic exhibition of Arkansans with developmental disabilities. Interviews with parents and friends dispel the harmful myths and stereotypes about these citizens.
